Discussion of Verisign's hijacking of .com and .net domains for profit

About a week ago Verisign started to resolve all unregistered ".com" and ".net" domain names to itself, redirecting it to an Overture affiliate program. Commentwire has a discussion on the financial windfall to Verisign as a result of this action. By the way, you may have very likely come across this verisign page without even realising it. Just type in any domain name that doesn't exist and you will see it. Try this one: www.thisdomainnamedoesnotexistactuall.com.

You mean telemarketers don't like having their day interrupted by the telephone?

God bless Dave Barry. His column on telemarketers gave out the phone number of a telemarketing association so that people could discuss with them what they thought of telemarketing. They weren't amused. How shocking, who would have thought that having people you don't know call you would disturb anyone? I'm sure Dave Barry meant no harm...

Modest proposal for Music Companies

No matter what they do, music sales keep plummeting. The only solution they've got left is to open the floodgates, allow P2P to take over and make free music ubiquitous but simply make money through product placement *within the songs*. I can just see the future lyrics now:

"They paved Paradise, and put up a parking lot.... Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you've got till it's gone, have a coke and put up a parking lot...."

Italy sends spammers to jail for 3 years

How do you fight a monumental problem such as spam? Italy is jailing spammers. Bravo! Now they just need to bring that to America and conservatively a good half of the spam that plagues us will be gone.

Cassavant Mining Kimberlite International Purchases 25 Claims

Casavant Mining Kimberlite International Announces Purchase of 25 Mineral Claims and Ground Magnetic Survey Update

Excerpt:

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 3, 2003--Casavant Mining Kimberlite International (OTCBB:CMKM) is pleased to announce the purchase of 25 mineral claims from North Sask Ventures Limited (a private company), approximately 10,912 acres in the Fort a la Corne area. After airborne magnetic surveys were conducted in the Fort a la Corne area, most of these claims were staked by previous claim holders, due to anomalies that were acquired from data taken from the airborne magnetic surveys. Two of the 25 claims are adjacent to known diamond-bearing property operated by Kensington (KRT), Cameco, DeBeers Joint Venture in Fort a la Corne. Claim #S-135017 is south of kimberlite body #152 and claim #S-15016 is north of kimberlite body #168 both which are operated by the joint venture. Claim #S-135018 is adjacent and north of Shore Gold's (SGF) Birch Lake kimberlite. The remaining mineral claims are strategically located and are currently surrounded by numerous other claims held by CMKI and other claim holders in the area.
