Nearly five years after India opened its mining sector to foreign investment, major international mining companies are yet to find any reserves, but they are slowly gaining confidence that significant gold and diamond deposits can be found in the not-too-distant future.
"Six out of 10 top global mining companies are operating in India, and they are really excited about the prospects of striking gold and diamond deposits in the country," said R.K. Sharma, secretary general of Federation of Indian Mineral Industries.
FIMI is a lobby group for Indian and multinational mining companies operating in the country.
