Diamonds in the news: De Beers in Botswana JV
Excerpt:
Beers, 45 percent held by Anglo American, on Thursday announced it had established a joint venture with African Diamonds plc to explore for diamond bearing deposits, or kimberlites, in Botswana.
The joint venture is 51 percent held by De Beers and 49 percent by African Diamonds.
De Beers' interest will climb to 70 percent once a bankable feasibility study, funded by De Beers, has been completed. De Beers and African Diamonds will each contribute certain license areas to the joint venture exploration programme.
