The best way to clean pearl jewelry is with a mild soap and water or exclusively water and air drying. I think it is clear that cleaners can strip away and damage jewelry luster.

I'm planning to buy ammonia this week to experiment.Does anyone know the right ratio of ammonia to water?I have used jewelry cleaner from Mappin's(in Canada)for several years and that's the best I've found so far.
I'm a huge fan of Good Housekeeping jewelry wipes as well.Whenever I take my solitaire to my jeweller for its semi-annual inspection he always jokes that it's the cleanest ring he's ever seen.I am very anal about only wearing it when I'm going out and cleaning it daily.
Thanks for your help!
