FREETOWN : Russia's state-run mining company Alrosa has dispatched a team to Sierra Leone in hopes of winning a bid to exploit the west African state's lucrative Kimberlite diamond mining industry, official radio reported.
A decade-long rebel war in the impoverished Atlantic coastal country was largely funded by illegal trade in so-called "blood diamonds".
